Eco Glamping in the Peak District.
It has often been said that the Staffordshire are the heart of the Peak District. Here at Ecopod Holidays we prefer to think of them as the lungs, with their gentle rhythm of life, great expanses of fresh air and an eclectic range of outdoor activities to quicken the breath of even the most seasoned adventurers.
EcoPod Holidays offer a door to and unique accommodation for some of the most breath-taking corners of the Staffordshire. Choose from five bespoke pods, each fully insulated with its own log burner, hot shower, mini kitchen, compost toilet and music playing and phone charging facilities. The site itself is grassy, peaceful and private, with a fire pit, communal seating, willow dome and access to its very own pub and playground. The site is also dog friendly – if they don’t mind the neighbours of donkeys, goats and geese!
Each Pod has been lovingly handmade with natural materials sourced locally from the surrounding landscape. The concept behind the EcoPods is to provide a cosy, warm and sustainable living space made from 50% waste materials as a superior alternative to modern buildings. They provide all the comforts of home as well as immediate access to the beautiful countryside. The pods are designed with the full scope of all the English seasons in mind – and there is no better stage for each to be showcased than the Staffordshire. From wildflower meadows in the spring to crimson theatres of colour in the autumn, all of this is quite literally on the Eco Pods’ doorstep.
As well as boasting easy access to the dramatically contrasting landscapes of the Peak District and an abundance of idyllic walking and cycle routes, the site is also within close proximity to quaint market towns such as Wirksworth and Bakewell. Only a short drive away are attractions such as Chatsworth Estate, Alton Towers and Derbyshire’s very own ‘seaside’, Matlock Bath.
The site is also located within walking distance of Carsington Water, where you can try your hand at water sports such as sailing, canoeing and windsurfing; or walk, cycle or even horseride around the 9-mile perimeter of the stunning reservoir. Energy levels can be restocked at the café restaurant (famous for its delicious cake), before a lazy afternoon of birdwatching or browsing the boutique shops. If you’ve brought the kids, you can wear them at the adventure playground before heading back to the cosy local pub for some hearty home-cooked grub.
There are pods to accommodate singles, couples or families, or alternatively, the whole one acre site can be booked for larger parties. The Pods can accommodate up to 16 guests and there is room for extra tents if required. Please contact Craig Banks at craig.banks@hotmail.co.uk for enquiries and more information.
